The class will be based on 2018-2022 Technician Class text by Gordon West W5YI. Text may be purchased online from W5YI or Amazon.
The class includes both days, Saturday & Sunday with the test on Sunday.
You are not expected to go through the book prior to the class, but it helps if you do some studying ahead of time.
Many get a head start on the course content using many available resources.
The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual 4th edition available on arrl.org or Amazon is a more in depth study option.
There are several online options.
The ARRL.org site has a lot of information and links.
An online search for Ham Radio Test will direct you to several free practice test sites that are great practice for the pool of test questions actually used on the test.
www.hamtestonline or www.qrz.com are both good.
You may also find phone apps that will drill you on the test questions.
There are many YouTube videos covering the ham radio/amateur radio technician license test content.
Popular YouTube videos by Gordon West, the author of the recommended text, reference the text.
Please contact Nancy Graff, DCARA training coordinator, if you have any questions.
