Beginning January 10, 2010 at 7PM, and continuing every second Sunday of each month, there will be a net hosted by the Denton County Branch of the American Red Cross on the 146.92 repeater. This net will be open to all amateur radio operators. The purpose of this net will be twofold.
The first objective is to offer a chance for participation to those with little or no radio experience. This is for those who are licensed but have little or no air time as well as those who are experienced wishing to hone their skills. A controlled net is how emergencies are handled and this is vital practice.
Secondly will be a chance to teach for some and others to learn. In our hobby, learning is a life long process. General amateur radio information as well as Red Cross information will be handled. We are in the process of setting up a website for training. This will be a place to find up coming nets and a place to post Power Point presentations for the training. You will have a chance to ask questions either on the air or through email. If we don’t have an immediate answer, we will find it.
For those who desire experience as a net control operator and for those who like to teach and want to help, please contact me on the air or send an email to kb5vnu@verizon.net
