Information regarding the current Corona Virus status and its impact on our club.
A National and State Emergency has been declared. Consistent with group suspensions around the country, our March 23 Regular meeting will not be held at the EOC, but will take place as a “Meeting on the Air” on the 146.920 MHz Repeater at our regular meeting time of 7pm.
What it is: This is a new (novel) virus named SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – Corona Virus #2) of the large family of Coronaviruses and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” abbreviated as COVID-19.
Where it is: It has not been officially reported in Denton County as of this date, however, statistically it’s here. Cases have been reported in surrounding counties, so this is an evolving situation and can change at any time.
What to do: Practice good hygiene. We need to stop handshaking, wash our hands more frequently, cover coughs and sneezes, disinfect common surfaces and increase ventilation as possible. Stay at home if feeling sick or you have a sick family member.

DCARA Operations and Groups.io
DCARA Operations communications will be making use of a new email-reflector service, Groups.io. This service is similar to the older Yahoo groups, but has much more flexibility from a management perspective. Event announcements and sign-up requests will be announced on all of the typical channels (newsletter, dcara.net, Hamclub Online, calendar) in addition to Groups.io. Radio operators, both DCARA members and non-members, that are interested in assisting with DCARA-sponsored events are encouraged to subscribe to the Groups.io email list at the link below.
For several years now, DCARA has experienced interference on the 146.920 repeater. Please assist the repeater team in identifying the source(s) of this interference. When you detect interference, report it on this Google page.
